FAQ

Clean & Service –

What is a clean and service?

  • A standard clean and service includes a complete breakdown of the entire reel.
  • Grease is applied to drags and gears.
  • Mineral oil is applied to bearings and other important parts.

How often should reels be serviced?

  • Saltwater reels are recommended to be cleaned and serviced 1-2 times a year.
  • Freshwater reels are recommended to be cleaned and serviced 1 time a year.
  • Commercial or sportfishing operations are recommended to have reels serviced on a regular basis.

Will parts be replaced?

  • Generally, a clean and service does not require parts to be replaced.
  • Occasionally parts (drags, bearings, gears, etc) get worn out and need to be replaced.
  • Customers will be contacted if parts need to be replaced.

How long will a clean and service take?

  • Current turnaround times are posted in the link at the bottom of the page.
  • Shipment of parts, if needed, may require extra time.
  • Shipping to and from Reel Movement is not included in current turnaround times.
  • Bulk orders of 12 reels or more will require more time for completion.
  • Please refer to the bulk order turnaround times.

Repairs –

What is a repair?

  • Reels can be repaired without performing an entire clean and service.
  • Per customer request, a repair alone will get the reel back in working order.
  • If the reel does not need a clean and service then a repair is a good option.
  • New parts are often necessary when repairing a reel.
  • Sometimes, a repair is a quick and simple process that can be completed quickly; in that case, the reel could be completed sooner than the current turnaround time.

Can fishing rods be repaired?

  • Fishing rods can be repaired.
  • Rod tip tops, reel seats, and rod handles can be repaired.
  • A rod broken in two pieces can not be fixed.
  • Almost all forms of rod repair require new components.
  • This is a chance to customize your tackle; different materials, colors, and styles can all be fitted into your rod repair.

Express Services –

What is an express service?

  • Express services have a turnaround time of 48 hours.
  • If you are on a time crunch and need your tackle by a certain date (your annual fishing trip is coming up), this a good option.
  • Be sure to note on your order the date you need your tackle and we will do our best to accommodate that request.
